Far from an embarrassment as I'm sure you know. The reality is that I spend far too much time watching numbers and I was shocked at how eerily close my numbers were to reality.  It is somewhat related to my job as a Director of Marketing, but moreso I think it is related to my love of numbers. As far as where April went, I use the Japan numbers to get a good baseline on availability of Nintendo platforms, they've been doing a fairly solid split, though with the release of Pokemon, the DS has been much more available.  I keep thinking that NEXT month is going to be the month that the Wii hits 400,000 in the US, but the recent statements on production by Nintendo make me think that 350,000 is the MAXIMUM possible number.  For April, 300,000 seems reasonable.  PS3 and 360 are likely to drop. Looking at the year over year numbers for the last 5 years, April has consistently been a dip month.  I expect that to remain true.  The rest is just projecting numbers based on previous charts, Worldwide sales, public sentiment and pixie dust. Sometimes more pixie dust than at other times.

 

By the way, I'm very impressed that you visited this blog (which I update quite irregularly, though my blog at Reflexive.com and my website Gametunnel.com both receive better than weekly updates). I'm honestly stunned that Michael Pachter found this blog.  In fact, I'd state it unlikely that anyone would openly post their email address, which makes more than skeptical of the reality.
